One will never know what will turn up at the Middle School’s BBC, or Benjamin Breakfast Club, the division’s version of a talent show which is held in the quad at the end of each quarter.

How about a teacher rap, two performances of the same song, and a thumb war tournament? Yes, those were just a few of the offerings that took place the morning of December 11 during the second quarter BBC.

Kicking off the program were sixth graders Ella Pierman, Matthew Postman, and Emeline Smith performing an instrumental rendition of the song “Red” by Taylor Swift. Pierman’s flute

accompanied Postman’s tuba while Smith, in her dance team uni, kept the beat with her pom poms. Fellow sixth grader Luke Skonieczny followed by singing an impressive version of “Riptide” by Vance Joy.

The Sparklers, the middle school dance team, also got in on the act by performing a routine on the football field. They danced to the song “New Revolution” by Maria Maciejko ’15, who goes by the stage name Meresha.

Other highlights included a praiseworthy rap about the Philadelphia Eagles by Technology Integration Coordinator Mr. Nicholas Crisafi. “I’m no Eminem, but I think I did a fair job,” said Crisafi, who was forced to perform the rap after his New England Patriots lost to the Eagles on December 6.

Then there was Five People on a Couch – an impromptu musical group comprised of eighth graders Bella Craven, Max Haddad, Emma Johnson, Macy Lewis, and Rigby Peckham – who reprised “Riptide” with ukuleles and tambourines.

Eighties power ballad “The Final Countdown” by Europe set the stage for the thumb-wrestling tournament which was won by Kolton Paxson.

Sixth grader Jenny Maciejko sang “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande. “My sister and I both really like to sing and we want to be famous singers and dancers,” said Maciejko, whose aforementioned older sister is already on her way to stardom. “No way she is as good of a singer as I am,” joked Jenny.

Seventh graders Briley Crisafi and Brooke Hayes closed the show with a soulful rendition “Mary Did You Know” by the Gaither Vocal Band and an impromptu version of “The Dreidel Song.”

This talent show was a great experience to those who watched as well.

“The show was very interesting,” said seventh grader Ugnius Numavicius. “My favorite part was the dancers. I just thought that they danced exactly according to the music, which was cool how it was a song that was very new.”

Eighth grader Dean Silvers agreed. “The show was performed very well with a lot of singing and movement. If anything I would think that the show is getting better every time.”

If that’s the case, quarter three’s show has its work cut out for itself because this BBC, for both the performers and the spectators, was fantastic!
