The Scripps National Spelling Bee is where students complete from schools across America to make it to the finals which are held in Washington, D.C each year. Fifteen English classes in the Middle School are holding class bees today, and the top two in each class will qualify for the middle school bee final on January 25.

Students were given a three-page list of words to study for the class bee. Each class bee begins with three rounds, with each of those rounds worth 10 points. So, the the bee is an assignment grade, and if a student makes it through the first three rounds without spelling a word wrong, they can earn a perfect 30 out of 30. Winners of the class bees receive 6 extra points and runners up receive 5 extra points.
