Everyone shares their ideas somehow. This year, the Benjamin school had its seventh `Graders create TedTalks to help spread their ideas throughout the school. Ronald Kane and Nathan Ginnetty teach the seventh-grade English classes. Mr. Kane thinks, “Since seventh-grade students did a lot of critical writing during the school year, the TED Talks allowed students to compose a more personal narrative on a topic of their choice. To compose these talks students had to go through multiple steps before they could share their ideas. Firstly, Mr.Kane and Mr. Ginnetty had students make heart maps to help them brainstorm ideas for their speeches. After the seventh grade made their heart maps, they were required to take notes, watch previous TED talks, and also make a draft. Once they were done with those steps, they had to make their speech. After the speeches were finished students went to the library to present their talk to the class. Students all wrote about something they cherished, but many of the topics involved sports, relationships, and self-improvement. Students, while listening to other speeches, had to take notes on the universal message and the overall theme. These talks will go down in Benjamin’s history.
