Everyone knows the saying about an apple a day, and many people are definitely excited about the new Apple products hitting stores this month. Apple, the global leader in the world of advanced technology and products, held its Apple Event of September 2021 on the fourteenth. Showcased by the live stream were the new iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, the new iPad, and the new iPad Mini.  Technology geeks, Apple fans from around the world, and students at TBS were excited about this event because of the updated products with many new features.

“The iPhones are always something I look at every year that they come out,” said eighth grader Gavin Venoff.  Apple announced that the iPhone 13 Pro has a more powerful camera system, a better battery life, and new colors such as sierra blue, gold, silver, and graphite. The A15 Bionic chip used in the new iPhones provides higher performance and efficiency while the camera now supports macro photography to magnify objects, take better photos in dark lighting, and even possesses a cinematic mode for videos with improved focusing on one’s subject.

Seventh-grader Anthony “AJ” Serro said, “I can’t wait to use the new cinematic mode to film videos that are higher quality because I’m interested in videography.”

Apple also announced some of the features of its new operating system, iOS 15.  The new Fitness Plus service, which enables users to have group workouts in iMessage or FaceTime, is expanding to 15 new countries.

Apple’s new feature, FaceTime Links, is a way to communicate with friends and family who may not have an Apple device. Previously, FaceTime was limited to only Apple users, but not anymore now you can join via FaceTime Links.

“I’m interested in the new Facetime links because I have some friends who do not have an iPhone, and now I can email them a FaceTime Link,” said seventh-grader Ryan Chait.

Many students at TBS use Apple products for schoolwork, like the Apple MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. Some TBS students use Apple products for things like health. “I use my watch to help time my workout,” said Venoff.  The new Watch Series 7 has other health benefits, including measuring one’s blood oxygen levels with a new sensor.

In addition, the new iPad mini is very powerful, has an 8.3-inch liquid retina display (larger than the former 7.9-inch screen) for great screen quality, and supports the Apple Pencil.

Rounding out the new slate of products, the latest version of the iPad comes equipped with an A13 Bionic chip, a 20% faster GPU, and a 10.2-inch (larger than the former 9.7-inch) screen display.
